Manufacturer - Independent Power Developers.

Type - Impulse Turbine (Pelton) Double Nozzle 14.6" Pitch. Approximate overall diameter of runner - 20 1/4".

Delivery - 6 Inch steel pipe to valve body (2) with 6 inch gate valve in front of each spear valve body. Each spear valve is manually controlled.

Generator - Kato; 12 wire; 488 vac; synchronous; 1200 rpm.

Control Panel - Kato; Basler voltage, reverse power, power factor controllers in floor mount steel case. Transformers, circuit breaker and relay controls all standard off the shelf components installed by Kato. Utility Parallel Controller ie; over - under Hertz, voltage, etc. were of 1980's design and orphaned by the closure of Independent Power Developers, Inc. These Circuit Boards are removed from the panels.

Shut Down - Units are designed for shutdown within parameter set by the paralleling utility; This is accomplished thru replacement of the removed Circuit Boards with components available from Basler or other suppliers and utilization of Solenoid valves delivering water at line pressure to cylinders driving diverters into the jets in front of the runner. The electronic equipment and solenoid valving is not included.

Performance - Units are designed to perform at 433 ft. head. 1.75 C.F.S. water each nozzle. Resulting in production of 73 h.p. per jet. (146HP/108.9KW). Engineering data we are told shows these same units to be capable of being installed with 964 ft. head and operated at 1800 rpm and to develop 244 h.p. at 2.66 c.f.s. per jet. (488HP/364KW). We have had this same designed equipment in service for over 20 years using single jets on the runners at 496 ft. head on 5 turbine - generator sets and records show the information to be correct. Our plant is consistently run at an output of 10% overload when the water is available. All the units in service have over 110,000 hours on line with the # 1 turbine having logged about 170,000 hours. Little cavitation damage is evident on all the runners with only # 1 having been given any repair and that was a minor epoxy fix that has withstood 35,000 hours of use at his point in time. We have acquired the tooling for the casting of the runners and have 5 new 14.6" pitch wheels on hand. 2 runners are shafted for our own operation, one of which is semi-finished.
