The plant prime movers are 3 – Superior 16-SGTA spark ignited natural gas reciprocating engines. These are 16 cylinder 13,200 cubic-inch turbocharged units rated at 1875 kW each. They operate at 900 rpm. The units were built in 1986 by Cooper/Superior in Ohio, they were setup to operate on landfill gas and ran on the factory test stand for four hours. After delivery the project was cancelled and they were placed in storage.
The plant can also be broken up into three individual plants of 1875 kW each. The switch gear, mufflers, radiators and all other associated equipment is easily individualized. The units were built in 1986 by Cooper/Superior in Ohio, they were setup to operate on landfill gas and ran on the factory test stand for four hours. In 1993 these units were shipped to Syracuse and installed in there current location. They currently are set up to operate on natural gas and located in a 25,000-sq. ft. building.
The units are currently shutdown but can be started up and operated at any time. We are still connected to the local utility and can produce full power into the grid at any time. Currently due to the deregulation power prices are so low it is not economically viable to operate the plant.

The engines alone are approx. 19 feet long 8 feet wide and 10 feet high. The engines dry weigh approx. 56,000 lbs. The skidded units (engine and generators) weigh approx. 96,000 lbs.
The entire Gen-set and engine unit is approx. 30 feet long 8 feet wide and 12 feet high.
In 1993 they were shipped to there present location, installed and converted to operate on natural gas.
Each of the units have CB-13 turbochargers that were purchased in 1993 new from Cooper as part of the conversion to natural gas operations. We also have 3 ET-13 turbos. One of these is fully functional and used as a spare unit. The others are in need of repair.
The units were started on July 26,1993 and operated until September 15, 1997.
The nearest parts supplier and service is Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon Ohio. There are several other suppliers and service companies around the country.
Following are the hours on each unit when they were overhauled and their current hours.
