Switchgear Technical Specifications

Overview: The Indoor switchgear system is draw-out type circuit breakers. Breakers of a like rating shall be interchangeable. This system is rated for:

        5,000 volts
        3 phase
        60Hz

Standards: The entire switchgear, including the circuit breakers, meters, relays etc. are build for IEEE/NEMA/ISO9000. Service conditions for the full nameplate rating will be as follows:

    Ambient Temperature: -30 degrees C to + 40 degrees C.
Altitude: Not more than 1000 meters (3300 feet)

Equipment Description: The 5kV Switchgear contains all power equipment including current and potential transformers, Circuit breakers, and metering, relaying devices. Each compartment is separated from the other by grounded metal barriers. The breaker compartment houses the 5kV circuit breaker. The breaker rolls into the compartment on guide rails that are an integral part of the unit. A mechanism moves the breaker from the connected position, to the test position, and to the fully withdrawn position while connecting/disconnecting both primary and secondary contacts. Safety shutters isolate all primary connections in the compartment whenever the breaker is moved from the connected position. All potential transformers are equipped with current limiting fuses. All current transformers are equipped with shorting type terminal blocks, for ease of testing. The paint finish coat will be ASA #61 gray enamel applied to all switchgear exterior and interior surfaces. All metal switchgear parts are chemically cleaned and one coat of red oxide primer is applied.

Control Wiring: Low voltage compartments will utilize Panduit wire troughs for ease of troubleshooting switchgear. Standard control wiring will be No. 14 AWG stranded, tinned-cooper wire, type SIS (Vulkene) rated at 600 volts. Crimp-type, insulated spade terminals are furnished on all wire ends, per UL requirements. The switchgear shall be provided with terminal blocks for all outgoing control connection with 10% spares. All control wiring will be provided with wire tags on both ends of all wires. The plastic slip-on wire tags will be tagged with wire designations that match the schematic. The wire markers will be permanent "shrink-tube" type with black letters on a white background.

Generator Control Specifications

Overview: System 2000TM is a real-time double redundant PLC based control, monitoring, reporting and alarming system. System 2000TM encompasses both a localized HMI based control systems for each Generator and a computer based plant-wide monitoring and control system. The heart of System 2000TM is the SIEMENS S7-417-4H PLC. This PLC provides fully redundant, real-time hot backup processing.

Generator Specific Control: Each generator will have a Siemens OP27 HMI. This front panel interface provides a complete method of operating the generator, and viewing its measured parameters. The OP27 will provide both automatic and manual controls for the generator. It will display all pressure, temperature, and electrical power data gathered by the engine monitoring systems. It will also serve as an alarm annunciator, and display any active alarms or warnings.

Control Wiring: Standard control wiring will be No. 16 AWG stranded, tinned-cooper wire, type SIS (Vulkene) rated at 600 volts. Crimp-type, insulated spade terminals are furnished on all wire ends, per UL requirements. The control system shall be provided with terminal blocks for all outgoing control connections with 10% spares. All control wiring will be provided with wire tags on both ends of all wires. The plastic slip-on wire tags will be tagged with wire designations that match the schematic. The wire markers will be permanent "shrink-tube" type with black letters on a white background.

Plant Wide Controls: All facets of normal system operation will be able to be viewed and controlled via a computer workstation interface. This system shall run Siemens WinCC. WinCC is a database driven monitoring and control system. It will provide monitoring, trending, and alarming on all measure power plant parameter including Pressure, Temperature, Electrical Power Parameters, Breaker Status, and System Diagnostics. With WinCC the operator shall be able to perform automatic startup and shutdown sequences.
